Nissan GT-R fans, do we have some hair-raising footage for you! NISMO ambassador Marc Gené recently set a new track record at the National Institute of Aerospace Technology (INTA) in Torrejón de Ardoz in Madrid.
Gené is revered as one of the most successful motorsport drivers in Spain, having participated in the 1998 Open by Nissan, Formula 1, and the legendary Le Mans 24 Hours Race in 2009. Nissan tasked him to beat the record at the challenging 1,756-meter INTA circuit, which he did not once, but three times in three different GT-R models – the GT-R R35, GT-R Track Edition, and GT-R NISMO.
With each run, Gené improved his time, starting with the GT-R R35 at a solid 1:06.93, then following up that performance with the GT-R Track Edition at 1:06.39 and the GT-R NISMO at a wicked 1:05.83. Sensational!
See for yourself:
Upon being proposed the challenge, Gené accepted with caution since the test track was one that he had never raced before. But it didn’t take long for the motorsport superstar to realize how well-suited the GT-R was for such a technical track, especially the NISMO. According to Gené, “It is a real racing car that you can drive on a daily basis. It has a spectacular suspension. When you drive it on the circuit, you can truly tell it has the Motorsport in its DNA.”

Earlier this month, Nissan unveiled its two latest concept vehicles at the 2018 Madrid Motor Show in Spain and the timing couldn’t be any better with the summer travel season upon us. Allow us to introduce to you the Nissan NV300 and e-NV200.
Both concepts are engineered to be used as campers, providing an interior and exterior design well-suited for life in the great outdoors. The colorful NV300 and e-NV200 are outfitted with bike racks, roll-out shades and pop-up roof tents, while the inside is equipped with a small kitchenette that includes a refrigerator, sink, range and dining table. There is room for two beds (one in the roof and one down below) for four people and both vans have heating, thus further extending the use of the campers into the cooler months.
As for power, the NV300 runs on a 1.6-liter turbo diesel, which is not available in North America, and the e-NV200 offers zero-emissions performance from its 40 kWh battery pack. It's good for about 124 miles of range, which is fantastic for a camper of this caliber.
Alas, there are no plans to release the Nissan NV300 and e-NV200 on Seattle soil, however, one can wish! To chat more about these concept vehicles or our line-up available vans, contact our team at Kirkland Nissan for more.

Recently, Nissan North America celebrated a notable milestone – the company came together to mark the 15th year of their Canton Plant in Mississippi. The first Nissan vehicle officially rolled off the production line on May 27, 2003, and since then, the assembly plant has gone on to manufacture over 4 million cars, trucks, SUVs and vans.
The Canton Plant has also been instrumental in transforming Mississippi into a hub for world-class automotive manufacturing, creating more than 6,500 jobs for team members and more than 25,000 direct and indirect jobs statewide. This year, the plant also added a second shift at the facility, creating 250 hourly jobs, to support increased demand for NV Commercial Vans.
Over the last 15 years, Nissan has been able to give back by donating $15 million in charitable contributions to local community partners, while also facilitating over 8,000 volunteer hours from the Canton team. Not only is the plant an important player in Mississippi’s industry, but community efforts too.
From all of us at Kirkland Nissan in Seattle, Washington, we congratulate the Canton team for their milestone of success! To learn more about the vehicles they manufacture, including the Altima, Murano, Titan and more, contact our dealership today for a test drive.

Years ago, business owners only had a handful of choices when it came to commercial vehicles and most of them were too big or too expensive for smaller operations. But, thankfully, automakers have caught on by manufacturing compact options that are fuel-efficient and extremely capable – not only when hauling cargo, but when navigating busy city streets and tight quarters.
One of those manufacturers is Nissan. Since unveiling the North American NV200 in 2013, the compact cargo has gone on to win over the hearts of small business owners with its affordability, maneuverability and exceptional fuel economy. It’s a sensible commercial vehicle to buy and own. And, most recently, it was named one of the best small vans for businesses by the automotive experts at Edmunds.
According to their review, the 2018 Nissan NV200 is a compelling choice for business owners whose eyes are set squarely on the bottom line. It's the least expensive small cargo van on the market, as well as the most fuel-efficient.
The NV200 is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine (131 horsepower and 139 lb-ft of torque) and comes mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission with front-wheel drive. Combined, this allows the van to maintain good energy on side streets and freeways, reaching 60 mph in only 10 seconds. Fuel economy is stellar too at 24 mpg combined, along with a max cargo capacity of 122.7 cubic feet and a 1,480-pound payload.
Want to take one for a spin? Contact our commercial vehicle sales team at Kirkland Nissan in Seattle, Washington to schedule your test drive in the 2018 NV200.

April showers bring May flowers, but did you know that they also bring crossover sales? That’s right – May proved to be the month of the Nissan Rogue! It was the USA’s best-selling sports utility vehicle, posting year-on-year improvements of 18.1%.
According to Good Car, Bad Car, the Rogue sold 38,413 models across the country in May 2018, which was a huge increase from the same time last year where only 32,533 crossovers were sold. This brings the Rogue’s total sales for the year up to 178,198, and we are confident that Nissan can double that figure by the end of 2018.
Since its release, the Nissan Rogue has remained a customer favorite for families, professionals, young couples, seniors and even fleets. Available in three very well-equipped trim levels (S, SV and SL) and with six configurations, this crossover gives Seattle area drivers the performance and capability that they desire.
Each trim comes equipped with a 2.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine, delivering 170 horsepower and 175 lb.-ft of torque. Mated to an Xtronic transmission in either front-wheel or all-wheel drive, the Rogue delivers pleasant on-road manners with great acceleration, smooth handling and precise maneuvering from the speed-sensitive steering system. For your safety, certain trims also boast adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
Slip into a best-seller this summer – consider the 2018 Rogue as your next crossover vehicle! To schedule a test drive, contact our team at Kirkland Nissan in Seattle, Washington.
The downtown streets are ever-hectic - a surge of traffic and fickle stop-lights. You try to navigate the chaos, but too often does your hatchback prove ill-equipped for the task; and each commute is spent pressing nervously against the brake pedal.
Nissan believes you deserve an intuitive experience - with your car tailored for both maneuverability and safety. This is why it now offers the 2018 Kicks to Seattle drivers, ensuring that every downtown adventure proves positive.
According to CNET, the new Kicks is tailored for crowded streets. Its lean body - 169-inches long, 69-inches wide, and 62-inches high - weaves deftly through traffic. The short front track (59.8-inches) counters parking concerns, allowing drivers to slide seamlessly into even the tightest spaces; while a fascia-mounted stabilizer bar ensures precise cornering. The chassis is bolstered with both traction control and hill start assistance to promote superior handling, utilizing an independent strut suspension to create a balanced ride.
To further impress, this Juke successor also boasts a dynamic safety suite - which includes automatic emergency braking (the ABS is engaged when the car’s radar sensors detect frontal obstacles); rear cross-traffic alerts (side-mounted sensors interpret lane positions to determine whether a collision is imminent); and a 360-degree high-definition camera (wide-angle lenses are strategically positioned across the chassis and deliver real-time perspective feeds to the central media console). These systems work in tandem to bolster every press of the pedal.
The 2018 Kicks affords drivers a rare sense of confidence - allowing them to maneuver through every downtown street with ease. To learn more about this platform contact us today.
It’s an unassuming spec. You stare at the 2018 Kicks, knowing that beneath its hood rests a 1.6L four-cylinder engine. This seems a middling option for the hot hatch market; and you wonder how it could possibly replace the responsive (and now discontinued) Juke. This isn’t the upgrade you were promised.
We disagree - and so does CNET.
As the venerable news site explains, the 2018 Kicks will serve as the successor to the Juke. It will feature a four-cylinder engine, which (at first glance) seems less than thrilling. Performance ratios linger at 125 HP and 115 lb.-ft of torque, and Sumner drivers are already voicing their displeasure.
Give us a moment of silence and we’ll sway your opinion.
Though the Nissan Kicks features a smaller engine than its predecessor, it delivers superior performance - pairing natural-aspiration technology (which ensures a steady power-band, regulating both air intake and fuel distribution to maintain optimal levels) with a light design. The hatch boasts a slim frame of 2,369 pounds. Its distinct blend of alloy and carbon materials greatly lessens overall weight demands (the Juke’s entry-level model yielded 2,913 pounds); and this allows it to sail down every street. Its four-cylinder has been engineered for maneuverability, achieving a 0 to 60 rev of approximately 7.9 seconds.
The new Kicks - which is anchored by a seamless continuously variable transmission and a robust front-wheel-drive - promises dynamic handling on the highway; and it proves that spec sheets can indeed be deceiving.

It’s an age of electrification - with the 2018 LEAF roaring down highways and up sales charts with equal ease. This Nissan EV has proven its worth, securing an impressive year-to-year growth and bolstering the brand’s Des Moines’ presence.
Are you ready for next-gen performance?
According to the Globe Newswire, Nissan experienced a sales boom in May - with its 2018 LEAF generating 1,576 total units. This represents a staggering 13.2% growth, and it showcases the viability of the electric market. Despite North America’s preference for crossovers and half-ton platforms, a lithium-powered vehicle can still find success.
We, of course, never doubted that. With the release of the 2018 LEAF Nissan introduced dynamic performance to Washington - pairing a 110-KW AC synchronous electric motor with a 40-kWh lithium-ion battery. Active Ride Control technology refines every curve, utilizing intuitive sensors to realign both trajectory and traction; while a torsion rear beam suspension yields superior balance. All-season tires deliver enhanced responses on slick pavement; and a single-speed reduction gear promotes crisp navigation, eliminating conventional down-shift woes.
This all combines to ensure a potent powertrain - with the new LEAF generating 147 HP and 236 lb.-ft of torque. This EV can easily keep pace with its mid-size counterparts and it proves a perfect everyday ride.
